Arsenal's manager has expressed concern that his team's chase for titles this campaign is being threatened by a concerning cycle of injuries and a grueling fixture list.

There was, however, better news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the South American forward added to their European squad. He comes in for the injured youngster Max Dowman, who suffered an ankle injury.

"Practice, no because we don't have time to train. But clearly the fact that you are missing players, you are loading other players more, there's a consequence to that and it's a truly vicious circle."

Dowman's setback is the most recent in a long list of injuries for the North London side. Since the start of last season, they have suffered 95 player absences, the second-highest total in the English top flight.

Long-Term Absences

• Defenders Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel Magalhães are not expected to be back until 2025.
• Midfielder Kai Havertz continues to recover from knee and "needs more time," as stated by the manager.

Arteta dismissed the idea that training intensity were to culprit, pointing to a lack of time for sessions. He highlighted the strain on available players, some of whom have featured over 150 games in two years.

Recruitment Strategy

Despite a major off-season spend over £250 million, Arteta insisted the team is unlikely looking to dip into the winter transfer market.

"Right now we're just focusing on bringing the players back and with luck it will be a matter of a short time," he said. "It's clear how important those weeks are going to be."

Looking Ahead

The team experienced their first defeat in 18 matches at the weekend, reducing their lead at the top of the league to two clear points.

Focus now shifts to the European stage, where a sixth consecutive group win would virtually guarantee a top-eight place. Forward Gabriel Martinelli could make history by finding the net in a fifth straight consecutive Champions League match.

"The team is disappointed with the outcome, but we have to move forward," he stated. "This isn't like everything is going wrong because we lost one game. So we remain united."
