The British government is ready to advance with employing the full worth of frozen Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have frozen over £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's assets had solely been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Moscow's national assets to end the war.

He added that more measures soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This statement follows European leaders convened in the Danish capital previously to debate utilizing seized Russian assets for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russian assets, based on media sources.

The total of seized Russia's holdings in the European Union is calculated to be nearly €211bn.
