President Trump Welcomes Families of Injured National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the administration to pause refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
